Lita is having a memorial race for Cari Carlson on March 7 at the Rockin' LJ Arena in Washoe Valley.  $2500 added.  Service at noon.  Race continues afterwards.  All profits go to American Cancer Society and a scholorship fund in Cari's name.  NEW entry form and directions to the event in "Entry Forms".  Additional parking at Lit's.  Entry forms come to us here at SPSH.  We are putting on the event.  It is WPRA, AW4D and ACBRA approved.

Schedule of events will be much reduced this year.  We are going barrel racing ourselves!  We will do Lita's event and the Wild Horse and Burro show.  We'll let you know about others.

AMATEUR CLASS

As PacWest is a co-sanctioner, we are going with their Amateur Class, as we believe alot of our riders will benefit for it and find it a good fit. 

This class is for those riders who do not typically finish towards the top at Open races. It is a 4D format.  It is intended to provide a competitive forum for riders who are new to barrel racing, are in the process of improving their times but aren't in the top tiers yet, love to race, but usually  place in the lower half of racers who enter open. Contestants who enter this class may run or carry over from the open class.

In a PacWest race,  Amateur class eligiblilty requirements are:

1.  Rider must not have won any open money in 1D or 1D futurity events in all timed Pac West barrel races they entered in the previous race year.

2. The rider must not have won more than $1000 in Open 2D winings and all timed PacWest barrel races they entered in the preceding race year.

Eligible riders may participate in the Amateur class for the race season if they qualify as of the first date they run in the class. PacWest rules apply for this class only. AW4D rules apply for all other classes.

The 2009 PacWest Finals in June 09 saw over $125,000 in prize money and large LQ trailers.
